24 minutes

6 07 2007

We watched the Simpsons episode which pays homage to 24 the other day. It was fab – they got the structure and elements of 24 down to a tee: split screens, tension, moles (who would have thought Martin had it in him?), acroynyms – the whole shebang.

In the episode, Principal Skinner opens a CTU – Counter Truancy Unit – at the school with Lisa taking point on the operation. Meanwhile, Homer goes to Kwik-E-Mart to dispose of a yoghurt that is totally minging and toxic but the stinky yoghurt falls into the hands of the school bullys: Dolph, Jimbo and Kearney. Lisa drafts in their best rogue agent, Bart, to help stop the bullies from releasing the ultimate stink bomb at the school’s bake sale.

Naturally, the highlights were the hilarious cameos by Jack Bauer (Keifer Sutherland) and Chloe O’Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub):

“I’m Jack Bauer, who the hell are you?”

I would love to regale you with all the fabulous I watched last night but I actually watched Manchester United get beaten by Copenhagen in the Champions League which was well annoying. It also meant I only watched a couple of episodes of That 70s Show although they were particularly funny.

“The Crunge”

Eric takes drastic measures when he learns that everyone in the gang, including Kelso, has higher SAT scores.

My favourite moment: Kelso getting a higher score than Eric.  WAHHH!!

“The Girl I Love”
January 7, 2003

Kitty throws a dinner party so Fez can introduce Nina to the gang, but the event turns into a battle of wills between the sexes.

My favourite moment: Hyde getting dressed up all smart because he didn’t like Jackie going to the dinner party with Kelso.

Gotta get my TV-groove back

31 10 2006

From tomorrow, I have pledged to update every day for a month so I am going to have to get some serious TV watching in. For the past few days, literally all I have watched is That 70s Show which rarely warrants anything more than a cursory mention of Hyde’s weird hotness i.e. he is hot/cool on the show but not necessarily in pictures. See Exhibit A below.

However, things are getting serious. I can’t just keep posting pictures of Danny Masterson every day. I think that would be cheating. I have no real qualms about updating my normal blog but this one is a bit more tricky… what with all the TV watching required and all… Oh well, wish me luck, people.

Ice Ice Baby

25 08 2006

So I was on the train on my home the other day and I was reading the TWoP recaps for the episodes of DC that I had just watched and I lost it.  I completely lost it.  I was trying so hard not to guffaw out loud that I ended up crying and beetroot-red.  I actually did laugh openly at first and then realised I was so loud I was that I had to try to restrain myself.  This led to ten minutes of residual laughter – you know, when you still want to laugh and if you think about the thing that made you laugh, you start off again.  The thing that set me off was this:

I was reading the part of the recap that was talking about how Dawson felt responsible for his father’s death because he thought his dad was driving angry (and this is why he crashed) whereas in reality, he was singing along to a song, looking quite chipper, using his ice-cream cone to point out parts of the song, thus flicking ice-cream around his car and thus making it necessary for him to undo his seatbelt.  As I have been typing this, I have been laughing again.  I just tried to explain it to my colleague but apparently you had to be there.  Or more accurately, be me.  Because only I am finding this funny enough to laugh about everytime I get the mental image of Mitch singing along in the car with his ice-cream.  Oh no, I’m off again….

I heart YouTube

Just found Mila’s and Vilmer’s punk’d clips on YouTube.  So funny.  “It’s a fake dog” – HA!!   I find it much funnier when they are friends of the Kutch.  Also?  Danny Masterson is not as sexy as Hyde.   In answer to my previous pondering on this subject.
